The SAN Herbarium, based at the Forest Research Centre (FRC), Sepilok, is the principal botanical repository of the Sabah Forestry Department. Established in 1916, it is the largest herbarium in Sabah, housing nearly 300,000 preserved plant specimens. As a leading centre for botanical research and plant conservation, the SAN Herbarium supports the documentation, study and preservation of Sabah’s rich plant diversity. It provides valuable resources and services to researchers, students, government agencies and other institutions, contributing to scientific knowledge and the conservation of the state’s botanical heritage for future generations.
